SlickBlue3 Theme
I’ve received some interest from some people who would like to use my recently installed theme on their own websites. So I’ve decided to release it as a pre-release version 0.1. The theme is a modified version of the original Kubrick theme that comes as the default with the stock installation of Wordpress. I used LiewCF’s Three Columns Kubrick Theme as a base and also pulled elements from the FastTrack theme for the top navigation buttons.
Here is a screenshot of the theme. It is currently being used by this site and I’ve named it SlickBlue3.

The theme is released under the GPL and is available for download here. Also just as a kind gesture, if you use this theme I would appreciate if you link to my blog for recognition. Of course you are under no obligation to do so but I would appreciate it nonetheless!

Hey Owen,
I’m slowly finding time to work with my site and the theme, but I just noticed something. When I use MSIE to view the a fresh install of the theme(with no alterations on my end), and even your own site, it does not appear correctly.
The two columns on the right are not in the proper places, and the text itself is quite large and overflowing the column.
If you are able to confirm this display problem, do you have any ideas what might be causing that and how it could be fixed?

Hmm..
I’m not seeing that problem. I’ve tested my site on both Firefox and IE6. What version of IE are you using? I don’t have an installation of 5 or lower available to me. Most of the column sizing parameters are outlined in the styles.css file. In particular look for the items named #leftsidebar and #rightsidebar

Oh you know what…I forgot about the fact that I’m viewing the theme on a 4 year old laptop running MSIE 5. Thanks for the quick catch on that one, I wouldn’t have thought about it being the laptop.

Yeah that’s what I figured. Most people these days are running IE6 or Firefox but if I have time I’ll try to set up some older IE versions and see if I can make the theme more “old-browser” friendly.

I’ve tried to take the comments out of the following line of code to replace the header image. It doesnt appear to be working.
#headerimg { background: url(’/images/personalheader.png’) no-repeat top;}
Your template looks beautiful. Is there any chance you could make a layout that put the far right column that says pages and recent posts to the left? I’d like to have a 3 column kubrick template with the main content in the middle.

I think that code was leftover from the themes that I based this one off of. It might not actually work. If you want to change the header I think the best thing to do is to modify the kubrickheader.png file in the images folder to your liking.
In terms of moving one of the columns to the left, that would take some restructuring but I’ll look into it if I get the chance.

I discovered a bug I believe in the theme. I’m using IE6. When you click on one of the recent entries the right hand side bar jumps around the screen. Mine displays on the bottom left of the screen.
Can you take a peek at http://www.rawgreed.com
Thanks if you can make a 3 column version with the right hand sidebar moved to the left.

I’ve tried to fix the problem but it still persists. I’ve also started using the theme very heavily on my blog so it would be very difficult for me to change to another one. Can you take a look to see if you have the same problem as me?
Right now I have two problems, clicking recent entries makes the right sidebar jump around the screen. the second is a random line that seems to appear at the bottom of the left and right sidebar’s.
Your version of the 3 column kubrick theme really really rocks and I would like to continue using it on my http://www.rawgreed.com blog.
Can you help me with these two problems?

I am using this theme, I really like it, but at the moment it is sandboxed, but I am having the same problems as andy, ive done a lot of work on customizing it and dont want to scrap it. Is there any way you can fix. So far:
Clicking individual posts eliminates the third sidebar
Clicking recent entries eliminates the thirs sidebar

Hmm.. I’m not quite sure why this would be happening. It may have something to do with the static column width of the far right column. I’m pretty busy these days but I may be able to look at it at some point. I just glanced at Andy’s site though and it looks like he has customized the theme quite a bit and has gotten rid of some of the problems. Perhaps he would also be a good resource to ask.
Glad to see you like my theme!

Ya he has currently has exact same problem as me, clicking the individual posts or the recent entries messes the sidebar up, at least in ie it does.
