Patience at the Plate

Since the widespread acceptance of “Moneyball” tactics in evaluating the performance of hitters, patience at the plate and a hitter’s more SABR-metric stats such as OBP and SLG have become good general indicators of a hitter’s value. However, check out this article from baseballanalysts.com. It provides some very good general insight as to why some ultra-patient hitters are so bad. (Can anybody say Mark Bellhorn?)

Thanks for the plug! I submitted my site and also linked to your site in the resources section. I hope you don’t mind but I customized your link graphic a little bit so that it conformed to the typical 80×15 pixel image that my other links have.
